Il cod. Vat. lat. 4939, noto come Liber preceptorum Beneventani monasterii S. Sophiae o, più comunemente, come Chronicon S. Sophiae, fu redatto nello scriptorium del monastero di S. Sofia di Benevento e terminato nell'anno 1119. Il documento è emesso dal principe Arechi II.
